Questions people ask
Who runs this website?
SingaporeEmcees.com is an emcee booking service based in Singapore. Every enquiry made here is handled by our team in Singapore.
How much does an emcee cost in Singapore?
Usually SGD 800 to 3,500 per event. Weddings usually cost SGD 800 to 2,000, corporate conferences, launches and award nights SGD 1,500 to 3,500.
What is the difference between an emcee and an event host?
The words are often used for the same job. An emcee usually leads the stage and drives the programme, while a host may have a more conversational role with guests. We match the style to your event.
Which languages can the emcee use?
English, Mandarin, Malay and Tamil, with bilingual and trilingual hosts for mixed rooms. Hokkien or Cantonese for older guests, and Japanese or Korean on request.
Is the script included?
A proper fee covers a planning call and a written script or run sheet reviewed with you. Full scriptwriting beyond an outline can cost extra, so check the quote.
Is a rehearsal included?
It should be: one rehearsal by phone or at the venue. It is the item most often cut from cheap quotes, so ask if it is missing.
What if the event runs over time?
Most emcees quote a flat rate for a block of about three to four hours and charge an hourly overtime rate after that. Agree the overtime rate in writing before the event.
Can I choose a male or a female emcee?
Yes, and the price is the same. A male and female pair is common for galas and award nights.
Can I see videos before I book?
Yes. The shortlist comes with photos, videos and profiles of emcees who are free on your date.
How far ahead should I book?
Four to eight weeks for a corporate event, six to eight weeks for a dinner and dance, two to three months for a Malay wedding on a weekend, and three to six months for a Saturday wedding in the peak season.
How do I get a quote?
Send the date, the venue, the headcount, the type of event and the languages on WhatsApp or through the quote form. You get a shortlist and a price, usually within a working day.
